At CPU we believe not only in the academic success of each child, but also the
social development of each child. That’s why this year the Primary School is going
to emphasize and promote character education. Each month there will be a schoolwide
focus on one of the six pillars of character education (trustworthiness,
respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship). To support that focus we
will be having monthly assemblies where students who have demonstrated that
particular character trait will be recognized. Students who are chosen will receive
a certificate and the opportunity to eat lunch with Mrs. Wooldridge. If your child
is going to receive an award, the classroom teacher will inform you ahead of time in
case you would like to attend.
For the month of September our focus has been on being a good learner. In ourclassrooms we have talked about what it means to be a good learner. Teachers havebeen looking for students who are showing active listening, doing their personal best on their work, have their materials ready, and participate in the lessons. Students who have done an exceptional job of demonstrating what it means to be a good learner will be recognized at an assembly on September 29th. To show support for our school and recognize that we are good learners we are encouraging students to wear black and gold that day.
Our focus for the month of October is going to be trustworthiness. At our
September assembly we will talk about what it means to be trustworthy. One of
the key ideas for trustworthiness is that students do the right thing even when no
one is watching. For our October assembly we would encourage students to wear
blue- the color that represents trustworthiness.
Below are listed the dates we have planned for our assemblies. If it is a morning
assembly we will be starting at 8:45; if it is an afternoon assembly we will be
starting at 2:30.
